    We now have an outstanding opportunity for a law student or graduate to join our team on a 12 month contract as a full-time personal assistant.

    This role will support two lawyers, offers considerable variety and is an excellent start to your legal career. You will be trained in and gain experience with software packages commonly used by law firms, learn how a legal firm works and build confidence in communicating with clients.

    A typical day will include:

    • Typing, editing and proof reading correspondence (including dictation, lengthy

    documents and tracked changes), Court documents and publications

    • Liaising with clients, lawyers and colleagues

    • Diary and task management

    • Telephone enquiries, including some relief reception

    • End of month activities including billing

    • Additional administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of a busy and high profile

    family law practice

    • Other administrative tasks as required

    Ideally, you will have PA experience or professional experience in a legal

    administrative role as a law student or graduate working in a reputable family law or

    litigation practice together with strong interpersonal, organisational, attention to detail,

    MS Office, typing and computer skills.

    About the New Lawyers Program:

    VLA's New Lawyers Program is an amazing opportunity to learn on-the-job while being supported with strong mentors and structured training. This program has been designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to most effectively represent VLA's unique and diverse client base and make positive change for Victorians.

    The program will build your skills and experience in different areas of law, with four placements (six months each) in VLA's different offices throughout Victoria (including at least one placement in regional Victoria) and our legal Program areas. This does mean you will be required to change office locations every six months and additional travel is expected when at our suburban and regional offices.

    On our New Lawyers Program, you will be supervised and supported by the NLP manager, senior lawyers, trained placement host managers and an in-house practice that includes 60 LIV accredited specialists.

    At the end of the program, you will take up an ongoing lawyer role in one of our programs and offices – and continue your legal career in any direction!
